Dear
Parent,
We want to thank you for your interest in the Urban Scholars Program.
We would also like to inform you about what is going on and invite
you to be a part of it. We want you to feel as much a part of the
program as your children do. We would be delighted if you would visit
a class and talk with a teacher or staff member. We also want to invite
you share your talents or interests with the students in the program.
You could demonstrate a skill or hobby, or provide information about
your culture. Whether it is photos, dress, music, art or food,
feel free to educate us. Our annual Culture Day is a perfect opportunity
to do this. We use Culture Day to represent our diversity. Students
collaborate with other students and staff members to present a taste
of life and culture in their countries of origin.Another event is the annual Parent Gala in which staff and students
show their appreciation for the important role that parents play in
the Urban Scholars Program. The event showcases what the students
have learned. Culture, creativity and academics are the three major
components of this event. It culminates in a buffet in which students,
staff and parents can socialize.
While we offer you the opportunity to visit us at any time, we also
believe that regular reports on your child's progress are needed.
We will contact you once each season with written evaluations by the
Urban Scholars instructors informing you of your child's progress
on his/ her road to college.
If you have questions at any time, please click here to contact us
by email or call our office (617) 287-5830.
We thank you for allowing your child to be a part of this program,
and we welcome all your ideas and support.
Sincerely,
Director, Urban Scholars Program
